Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said to have made the final days of Queen Elizabeth II difficult by leaving the royal family and publically bashing them afterwards.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have landed in fresh controversy as royal expert Phil Dampier claimed their actions left the late Queen “heartbroken.”

He claimed that the Sussexes made her final years a “misery,” in a chat with The Sun amid new reports on Queen’s stance on Harry and Meghan disclosed by her closest confidantes, Lady Elizabeth Anson.

Dampier said the late monarch, who died in 2022, was deeply hurt by the couple’s decision to step down as senior royals in 2020 and their public attacks on the Royal family, including their Oprah interview and Netflix docuseries.

"I just think that she worked her whole life trying to make sure that the monarchy succeeded after her,” the expert said.

He added, "It must have been absolutely heartbreaking for her to see what was happening with Prince Andrew and what was happening with Harry and Meghan leaving in her final years.

"To cope with that, as she was approaching the end, and Prince Philip died, and all this happened right at the end of her life. I think it must have been absolutely heartbreaking for her.”

He further noted that it is "probably the thing that people won't forgive Harry and Meghan for making her last years a bit of a misery."

Noting that the Queen was very "pragmatic and very tough,” he added, "I think deep down she was a grandmother and she was very, very fond of Harry.

"I mean, I think they were extremely close and probably the two most popular royals that we had at the time."
