Prince William and Kate Middleton have sparked a heated online due to their “terrible” positioning at a recent key event.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’s placement during the welcome ceremony for French President Emmanuel Macron was not very well received by their fans.

The couple greeted the French President and First Lady Brigitte Macron at RAF Northolt and later joined them at Windsor Castle, where they were seen standing away from King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Taking to social media, royal fans pointed out that the positioning looked “awkward” and “strange.”

"Am I the only one who objects to this staging?” one fan penned on X (formerly Twitter). “Who thought it was a good idea to place OUR Prince and Princess of Wales off stage like this?”

“The optics are terrible. Geez!" they added.

Another penned, "It’s strange?! On previous state visits (like the South Korean visit) they were all on the stage were they not?"

"I thought it was rather strange too,” one shared, per The Express.

"I agree,” another user wrote, agreeing with others. “Very awkward. They could have been on the stage behind, even would have looked better."

One comment read, "It doesn't look right."
