Taking a quick break from watching the England Lionesses storm to victory, Prince William met former footballer Jill Scott in Switzerland.

Scott is the new President of Fields in Trust, a UK charity dedicated to protecting parks, playgrounds, playing fields, and green spaces.

William is the patron of organization, a role he took on after his grandfather, Prince Philip, stepped down as president after 64 years.

According to a statement, the Prince of Wales welcomed Jill Scott, who is the recipient of MBE( Member of the Order of the British Empire) to her new role  - symbolically passing the baton on to her, having previously held the role for the last 12 years.

"100 years ago, the National Playing Fields Association, as Fields in Trust was formerly known, was created with a visionary purpose: to ensure every community had access to parks, playgrounds, playing fields and green spaces," said the statement issued by the charity.

It said, "Today as these spaces come under significant threat and with 1 in 3 children now lacking access to a playground close to home, we have a renewed sense of purpose and are proud to be building a strong coalition of support."

"As Prince William and Jill watched the brilliant performance from the Lionesses – the team Jill once proudly played for – it’s a powerful reminder of how vital these spaces are for inspiring future generations."

"To nurture the next generation of Lionesses, and ensure everyone can enjoy the benefits of outdoor play and sport, we must protect what we have."
