Meghan Markle is refuting “fabricated” claims that she’s seeking royal treatment as she reportedly plans to return to the UK this summer.
As speculation grows around her potential return to the UK with Prince Harry, a bombshell report seemingly exposed Meghan’s “diva-like demands,” including that Brits use her royal titles.
But a source close to the Sussexes shut the claims down outright, according to an update by The Express UK on Wednesday, January 14.
“This is a complete fabrication. Nothing about it is true. No demands like this have ever been made,” the insider said, dismissing suggestions that Meghan had laid out strict conditions for the trip.
The original report published earlier this week on royal expert Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack alleged that Meghan wanted to be “in total control” of the visit. It claimed she asked for a “fleet of luxury cars” and extensive security measures.
“This isn’t just protection. She’s asking for a fortress. Bulletproof glass at the Games, armed security everywhere she goes,” a source told Shuter.
Another insider went further, alleging that “anyone who has any interaction with her has to call her ‘Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex’. No exceptions.”
Prince Harry, meanwhile, is said to be hopeful that his UK police protection will be reinstated this year. That has fuelled speculation that the couple’s children — Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4 — could also travel with them.
However, royal expert Tom Sykes reported that “a spokesperson for Prince Harry told me the report was ‘pure speculation.’”
Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex is set to make a short trip later this month to settle his court battle with Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers Limited. He is also likely to visit again in July for a one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Birmingham.
Whether or not his family joins him remains to be seen.
