Emma Roberts reunites with ex for son's birthday

Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund put the spotlight on co-parenting as they reunited to celebrate their son Rhodes’ milestone birthday in a memorable way. 

The former couple came together to treat their son to a special trip to Orlando’s Universal Resort, marking his 5th birthday with a family getaway filled with theme park adventures and shared moments.

Roberts, 34, shared highlights from the trip on Instagram on Jan. 16, giving fans a glimpse into the experience. 

“So nice, we had to go twice!” she wrote, adding that it was “the best belated birthday trip for Rhodes #5.” 

The post showed just how packed the itinerary was, with visits to Toadstool’s Cafe at Super Nintendo World inside Universal Epic Universe, rides inspired by The Lorax and The Cat in the Hat at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and a walk through E.T.’s iconic glowing tunnel. 

In between attractions, Roberts and Hedlund, 41, were seen posing for selfies with Rhodes and sharing sweet moments, including kisses on his cheek.

Hedlund made it clear the trip meant a lot to him as well, commenting on Roberts’ post that the experience was “The Greatest!!!” 

The outing comes nearly three years after the pair split in 2022, following two years of dating, but their reunion for their son’s birthday highlighted their shared commitment to making meaningful memories for him.

The family trip follows a cosy holiday season for Roberts and Rhodes. 

In December, the actress shared a snowy photo of the two spending time together, captioning it simply, “Merry merry.” 

Outside of social media, Roberts has also spoken openly about how motherhood has shaped her. 

In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar Spain, she reflected, “Motherhood has given me so much depth in my emotions and understanding, both personally and professionally.” 

She added, “Seeing everything through his eyes is beautiful and transforms your perspective on the world.”

Now engaged to actor Cody John, Roberts continues to balance her personal and professional life while embracing motherhood. 

Moments like Rhodes’ birthday trip show that, despite going their separate ways, she and Hedlund remain united in putting their son first.
