The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh put their duties to the King first as they made their first joint appearance of the year.
Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie stepped out in Sheffield for a number of engagements on Friday. The couple remained focussed on the task at hand, even if it separated them.
Sophie first stepped out to visit c charity, Sparkle Sheffield, which supports children and young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions and other social communication difficulties. Meanwhile, Edward was attending Day 2 of ISU European Figure Skating Championships.
Later on, Sophie joined her husband, but were still seated in different places, seemingly making connection and broaching important discussions.
Prince Edward opted to sit next to Christopher Dean, former European Champion and World Champion. Sophie was sat several seats away, engrossed in conversation. The couple then visited GB Team and pupils from Prince Edward Primary School.
King Charles’s office released an update, sharing highlights from their outing.
“As the @ISUFigureSkating European Championships take place at Sheffield Arena, Their Royal Highnesses met GB Elite athletes, before watching the skaters in action!” the statement read.
“The Duke and Duchess also visited Skills Street, an organisation working to inspire and inform young people into careers and skills development.”
Edward and Sophie rose to a prominent role last year as they took on major task on behalf of the monarch. It seems that the couple will continue to rise the ranks with their unwavering dedication to service.
