Taylor Swift sparked several fan-theories with her Easter Egg-filled music video for her latest single, Opalite, but she finally addressed whether what fans believed is true or not.
The 36-year-old pop superstar gave an insight into her concept for the ‘90s-themed video with a cactus and a rock supposedly used to symbolise Swift and her fiancé Travis Kelce’s exes in the extended uncut version of the behind-the-scenes video.
In the extended video, the Fate of Ophelia hitmaker explained, “In our metaphor, inanimate objects represent the kind of toxic relationship they’re in. I think I’m best friends with this rock who is always weighing me down [... ] Domhnall, He’s in a toxic relationship with a cactus where he’s getting hurt everyday.”
Swifties believed that the “toxic” relationships in the video represented her last relationship with Joe Alwyn and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s previous relationship with Kayla Nicole.
Elsewhere in the video, the Grammy winner elaborated the meaning behind the antidote of the ‘Opalite’ miracle product ‘Nopalite’ in the video.
Swift explained that “Nope-Alite is for people who want to choose to be unhealed, Opalite is for people who want to choose a path that serves them,” referring to her and Kelce who seemingly changed the course of their lives by choosing to step out of toxic relationships and come together under unusual circumstances.
