Sarah Michelle Gellar pays tribute to late 'Buffy' co-star Nicholas Brendon

As Nicholas Brendon’s fans are mourning his death, his Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-stars are grieving the loss as well.

Shortly after it was confirmed that the actor, who is best known to play the character of Xander Harris, has passed away at the age of 54, his fellow actors took to their official social media accounts to share heartfelt tributes.

Appearing in all 144 episodes as the titular character of the cult classic, Sarah Michelle Gellar posted a photo of herself with Brendon alongside a caption that read, "'They’ll never know how tough it is to be the one who isn’t chosen. To live so near to the spotlight, and never step in it. But I know. I see more than anybody realizes, because nobody’s watching me' I saw you Nicky."

"I know you are at peace, in that big rocking chair in the sky,” she added.

Emma Caulfield, who played Xander’s ex-demon ex-fiancée Anya, shared a video of the late actor discussing their duet I’ll Never Tell from the Season 6 musical episode, “Once More, With Feeling.”

“My heart is heavy,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “I can’t put into words just how this has hit me. Let this clip of us giving it our all be a placeholder. Rest Nicky. Rest. I love you.”

Moreover, Alyson Hannigan, who starred as Xander’s best friend Willow Rosenberg, penned, “My Sweet Nicky, thank you for years of laughter, love and Dodgers.”

“I will think of you every time I see a rocking chair. I love you. RIP,” she added.

For the unversed, Brendon starred on the Joss Whedon-created series’ seven-season run as the nerdy best friend of the Gellar’s character, helping her save the world on multiple occasions with their friend Willow.
