Yungblud reveals he’s having surgery after cancelling festival appearance

Yungblud is preparing to undergo surgery after recurring health issues forced him to cancel multiple shows this year, including a major festival appearance.

The rockstar, whose real name is Dominic Richard Harrison, shared the update directly with fans in a voice message posted to his Instagram broadcast channel on Thursday, June 25, revealing he will have his tonsils removed later this year after another bout of tonsillitis sidelined him from Norway's Tons of Rock festival.

"Tomorrow morning the news is going to come out that I am not going to be able to play in Norway," the 28-year-old said.

"After the crazy schedule of the UK tour, straight into America, straight into three festivals with kind of no rest, my tonsillitis has flared up again and I’ve been on antibiotics for the past couple of days," he explained.

The cancellation also led him to reveal a longer-term plan to deal with the recurring issue.

"I'm getting my tonsils out. I'm having an operation in October because it's the one thing… anytime my schedule's crazy and we go and go and go… it's the only thing in the world that can kind of take me down,” he said.

The update comes after the Grammy-winner previously postponed UK shows earlier this year due to tonsillitis, with doctors again advising him to rest his voice.

Although disappointed to miss the Norwegian festival, Yungblud assured fans he still plans to perform at Bludfest on Saturday, June 27.
