Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have received a heartfelt public tribute from one of their closest former colleagues, as organisation’s ex-executive director James Holt reflected on his years working alongside the Sussexes.

Holt, who stepped down as Executive Director of Archewell in December 2025, is preparing to return to the UK to begin a new chapter as Political Director of the Liberal Democrats.

Before taking up the role, he made his social media accounts public, revealing a series of personal posts praising Harry and Meghan and looking back on nearly a decade of shared work.

In an emotional message, Holt described working with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as "one of the great privileges" of his career.

He reflected on first teaming up with Prince Harry eight years ago to improve mental health support for members of the British Armed Forces before later collaborating on a wide range of humanitarian projects, including initiatives supporting children injured in Gaza.

Speaking about Harry, he said the Duke had consistently encouraged him to "think bigger" about creating meaningful change, praising his determination to make a lasting impact through charitable work.

He reserved equally warm words for Meghan, describing her as a "kindred spirit" from the moment they met.

Among the many projects they shared, Holt said their work supporting families affected by online harm would remain the most meaningful of his professional life.

As he reflected on his departure from Archewell after five years in California, Holt admitted it was time for his family to return home to London.

He said he would hand over leadership of Archewell Philanthropies with "immense pride and optimism" and thanked Harry and Meghan for everything they had done both personally and professionally.

In a separate post alongside a photograph of himself with Harry, Meghan and members of his family, Holt summed up the journey with a touching message: "Eight years. Many stories. Two countries. And one very small person who wasn't here when it all started. Thank you for the adventure."
