Charles Spencer's claims receive stamp of approval despite lawsuit threat

Charles Spencer’s book, Swan Song, was anticipated to rile up the royal family, but the author may not have expected to be dealing with legal threats so early on with the release of the book.

The memoir had only hit the shelves when Spencer was called out for having “inaccuracies” in his book by Piers Morgan. Many have urged the presenter to not have mercy on the Earl.

Spencer had also claimed that the then-Prince Charles had said to him that Diana would be “forgotten soon enough” inspiring him to write the fiery eulogy which is memorable even three decades later.

Prince William and Prince Harry’s uncle stirred up quite the controversy which the explosive claims that he had made in the book, but in a surprise turn of events, he found some validation for his work.

An old clip of royal correspondent James Whitaker, regarded as the doyen of the royal reporting pack during the Princess Diana era, has emerged which somehow corroborates the details mentioned in Spencer’s book.

The journalist had shared that there was a “sigh of relief among the royals” when the news of Diana’s death had reached the Palace on that fateful night. He did mention that the accident was “too horrendous” and they did not wish for that to happen.

“[Diana] had her own court, which was becoming more and more powerful. Really, she was taking on the royal family.”

He had explained that unless you were of the “royal blood” the royal family was “utterly ruthless” and even if you were married into the family, you would be “totally expendable”.

Users online noted that this checks out Spencer’s claims.
