YouTube TV, DirecTV users face Sept 8 deadline for $50M Disney settlement claim

Millions of YouTube TV and DirecTV stream subscribers are eligible for cash payments as part of a $50 million class action settlement with The Walt Disney Company.

The deadline to claim is September, 2026.

The lawsuit was originally filed in November 2022 by four YouTube TV users, alleging that Disney violated federal antitrust law by artificially inflating the prices of live pay-television streaming services.

They argued that Disney forced streaming platforms to include ESPN in their base packages, which limits their ability to offer cheaper bundles and gives Disney pricing power across the industry.

Disney has denied any wrongdoing, but it agreed to settle the claims.

It allows people who subscribe to either of the services between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2026.

Eligible users will get payments on a pro rata basis, which means that each claimant will receive payments based on how long they held a qualifying subscription. The longer a subscription is, the larger the potential payout will be.

To file a claim, eligible subscribers must submit a claim form by September 8, 2026, on the official website. In case a user had both YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream, they can file a single claim form covering both.
