GTA 6 fans have been humming long to get physical copies of the game that has taken fever pitch heights after Rockstar confirmed pre-orders.
Rockstar Games’ former co-founder Dan Houser has rooted for the GTA 6 fans in a latest media appearance.
Houser appeared for an interview in the IGN studio at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026 and divulged the buzz surrounding physical copies of GTA 6.
The GTA and Red Dead Redemption developer’s thoughts were pretty clear-cut about it.
Houser’s comment appears to come straight from the horse's mouth, telling, "If players want their games released on physical media, then “companies should provide it.”
“I don’t know that I care, but if people want that, I think companies should provide it. But I don’t know that I personally care,” said Houser.
“I also think that, as critical as people are of digital releases, the ability to update and fix problems in games has been really useful for the quality of games,” Houser explained.
The debate of GTA 6 physical versus digital media heated up ever since Rockstar Games, the official publisher, announced GTA 6 would not be delivered with a disc.
The announcement soon followed suit after Sony revealed it would no longer produce physical discs for games after January 2028.
GTA 6 is slated for launch on November 19, 2026.
