Why ChatGPT is down? Everything to know about outage

OpenAI’s ChatGPT is currently down right now, leaving thousands of users unable to access the popular AI chatbot.

Downdetector confirmed the outage, with more than 74,000 users having reported problems with the platform by 8:23 a.m. PT.

Multiple users reported “elevated errors” and an inability to start or continue tasks. Around 85% of the complaints were specifically related to ChatGPT functionality.

The company further confirmed the disruption on its status page, stating: “Users across multiple subscription plans may be unable to start or continue tasks in ChatGPT Work. We are continuing work on implementing a mitigation.”

The service interruption is also experienced by Microsoft, with Exchange Online and Outlook also down.

The disruption happened shortly after OpenAI launched ChatGPT Work, which is an agent meant to aid employees in carrying out their day-to-day tasks such as developing presentations, building websites and writing documents. This timing has brought about apprehension among business people who have relied on this AI to conduct their operations.

OpenAI and Microsoft have not indicated when they will restore the services completely. It is recommended that users keep checking the official status page for updates. There is also no confirmed reason for the outage as well.
