Inside Minka Kelly's emotional reaction after 'Ransom Canyon' farewell

Minka Kelly isn’t quite ready to say goodbye to Ransom Canyon — even if Netflix already has.

Following the romantic drama’s cancellation after two seasons, Kelly took to Instagram Friday, September 11, to share an emotional farewell to the series and the people who made it special.

“Appreciating this little trip down memory lane as we say farewell,” she wrote alongside a video featuring herself and co-star Josh Duhamel. “All good things must come to an end. And so it is.”

“Thank you all for giving us two beautiful seasons!” Kelly continued. “I love you forever my Ransom Canyon family!!.”

The goodbye comes less than two months after Season 2 premiered on July 23. 

The series, created by April Blair and based on Jodi Thomas’ books, followed three Texas ranching families caught up in romance, family drama and fights over their land.

Kelly played Quinn O’Grady, a musician torn between her New York ambitions and the Texas town she once left behind. Duhamel portrayed rancher Staten Kirkland, whose family ranch was at the heart of the drama.

And Season 2 certainly kept Quinn’s love life complicated. After returning from New York, she found herself caught between Staten and her new boyfriend, Oliver.

But Kelly insisted it wasn’t your typical love triangle.

“This wasn’t meant to be a triangle,” Kelly previously told People magazine. 

“She really wanted to move on. She was very frustrated at the end of season 1, and so she went to New York to fulfill her purpose and her dream to play with the New York Phil, and she’s living in New York and having a good time. She meets someone else and it’s easy to romanticize this new shiny thing.”

“She goes home and is, to her surprise, faced with this very new, charming, funny, silly version of Staten, who’s telling her everything she’s ever wanted to hear from him, and it’s just a little too late,” she added.

Season 2 may be over, but clearly, Quinn and Staten’s story still has fans wondering what could have been.
