PESHAWAR: Health and Nutrition Specialist UNICEF, Dr Jamil said on Saturday that polio cases in our society has been curtailed by the efforts of government and time has arrived to join hands for total obliteration of polio endemic.
Addressing a function held at Peshawar Press Club in connection with special immunization drive, he said that drastic decrease has witnessed in polio emergence cases owing to the incessant efforts of government and its partners, which are encouraging and admirable.
He urged each and every segment of the society to play a role in disseminating necessary information among masses to ignore propaganda against polio drops and vaccinate children to protect them from permanent crippling.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Director EPI, Dr Jan Baz said that in upcoming three day polio campaign children of 17 districts would be immunized against polio for which 10799 teams have been assigned mobile, fixed and transit duties.
Dr Jan Baz informed that India has eradicated polio from their country with the same vaccine adding we should unite to wipe out polio from our country. (APP)
