Five million businessmen to be brought in tax net: chairman FBR

SIALKOT: Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Ali Arshad Hakeem has said that the target is to increase number of taxpayers and to bring 5 million businessmen into tax net, Geo News reported.

Addressing the businessmen community here in a ceremony at Sialkot Dry Port, the FBR chairman said only 700,000 businessmen pay tax and the target is to further increase it and bring 5 million into tax net.

He said a software has been developed that would help collect tax, adding all the data of FBR would become online after it.

Tax is being imposed on the businessmen who are exempted from sales tax, he said and added that action is being carried out against companies registered with fake names.
