Talks with IMF: Dar says no new taxes to be imposed
ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan’s talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to get a loan package may continue for the next couple of days.

He was talking to media after talks with the IMF delegation headed by Jeffery Frank on late Monday night.

The minister said that Islamabad would seek the loan package on its own conditions, expressing resolve not to show “flexibility” on its terms.

He told that no new taxes would be imposed on IMF demands but wise steps were required to be taken over the issue of subsidies.

Dar said that whether Pakistan received the IMF program or not, the government would not let Pakistan become defaulter.

He said that talks with the IMF were taking place in positive manner. The minister maintained that every new day would be better for the Pakistan’s economy than the previous day. He said that there was no harm in taking loans to heal country’s ailing economy.
