Dawoodi Bohra Community spiritual head, Dr. Burhanuddin passes away

MUMBAI: Dawoodi Bohra community spiritual leader, Dr. Syedna Mohammad Burhanuddin breathed his last Friday morning at his residence at Saifee Mahal in south Mumbai.

Qureish Raghib, the media Associate for the community confirmed the news here.

He said, “We will be issuing a media statement shortly. He passed away this morning and was to celebrate his 103rd birthday in next few weeks.”

It seems that the spiritual leader died after suffering a heart attack though official cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

The Bohra community has announced a 10-day mourning period for the departed spiritual leader. As a mark of respect, shops run by the Bohras will remain closed for three days.
