LAHORE: Families are facing severe hardship as sewage water floods their houses located in Achra, Mazang and Samanabad areas of Lahore, forcing the residents to leave their abodes.
Taking notice of the incident, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has instructed WASA and other authorities to kick-start relief work on war footing.
“Despite having homes, we have become shelter-less,” said one of the affected residents. They said instead of receding the flow of sewage water is gaining strength, fearing it might cause their houses to cave in.
The affected citizens held the construction of a road from LOC to Multan road over a nullah responsible for the problem. They said due to the ongoing construction, the sewage water from a nullah was diverted towards another nullah near Shama cinema which led to its overflow and flooding of the residential areas.
