Internet helps blind toddler see for the first time

Two-year-old Nicolly Pereira was born blind and deaf. She was diagnosed with pediatric glaucoma, according to a New York Times report.

The toddler in Brazil went through seven different surgeries, but nothing alleviated her plight.

Nicolly’s mother Daiana Pereira didn’t lose hope. She posted on social media her daughter’s battle with the disease.

Her story garnered support of thousands of people; not only that, an unknown person in Miami contacted the Jackson Health Foundation's International Kids Fund to help Nicolly see and hear.

The online campaign helped the mother collect $17,000, after which the toddler was taken to America for a surgery. After the three-hour-long procedure, Nicolly finally gained her sight, which was nothing short of a miracle. Doctors will keep Nicolly Pereira under supervision for a year.

The moment she saw her mother for the first time was heart-warming enough. A video showing young girl gaining her sight back and seeing the world for the first time has gone viral.
