USGS records 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar

YANGON: A powerful earthquake hit Myanmar on Wednesday, according to the United States Geological Survey the quake registered a 6.8 on the Richter scale. 

The USGS adds that the epicenter of the quake was 84 kiometres below the surface level and was felt as far as the Thai capital of Bangkok, AFP reported.

Meanwhile Reuters added that there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. The quake shook buildings in Myanmar's largest city of Yangon as well as in other towns and cities, witnesses said.
