Netflix may be introducing 'download-and-go' offline streaming soon

Netflix users, not using the service only on to stream on TV at home, have been wanting an offline solution to watch the steaming services content offerings.

According to sources, Netflix is planning a big update which will include the ability to download shows on smartphones and tablets for later viewing.

The option being dubbed as 'download-and-go' could be available for Netflix customers before the end of the year.

While the steaming service has not confirmed the feature, Reed Hastings co-founder and CEO of Netflix at a conference earlier this year said "as we expand around the world, where we see an uneven set of networks, it's something we should keep an open mind about."

Don't get excited just yet

It is rumoured that you won't be able to watch all Netflix content in offline mode and only Netflix original content will be available. However since everything is in the rumour stage we're not calling for a verdict on whether to renew subscriptions just yet.

With multiple cheaper and certain free solutions out there already, Netflix is going to need something big to keep users paying their subscriptions.
