Pakistan to host CAREC conference on Oct 26

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will be hosting 15th Ministerial Conference of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) during this week in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
According to a press statement issued here on Sunday, Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting to review preparations for CAREC meeting at the Finance Ministry.
The Finance Minister was briefed about arrangements for the conference and receiving foreign dignitaries. The minister said that the conference will play a vital role in the economic development of the CAREC area. The CAREC will begin an era of economic cooperation and integration of the CAREC area.
The Economic Affairs Division in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will host 15th Ministerial Conference of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) countries (Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Georgia as an observer) on 26th October, 2016 at Islamabad. Approximately 200 participants from 10 member countries and multilateral development partners will attend the events. The MD-IMF and president ADB will be also participating in the event.
The meeting looked into arrangements made for the visits of dignitaries that will be participating in the event. The meeting explored ways to make the visits and conference productive and meaningful. It was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and State Bank.
