KPT signs agreement with NCMPR Bahria University Karachi

KARACHI: Karachi Port Trust (KPT) signed on Thursday agreement with the National Centre of Maritime Policy Research (NCMPR), Bahria University Campus, Karachi at KPT Head Office.

The signing of agreement was meant for the establishment of KPT Chair for cooperation enhancement as well as for interaction to prevail between academia and the maritime industry of Pakistan.

The agreement was signed by Chairman KPT Vice Admiral (R) Shafqat Jawed HI (M) and Rector Bahria University Vice Admiral (R) Tanveer Faiz HI (M). The event was also attended by Director General NCMPR Vice Admiral (R) K. G. Hussain HI (M).

On the occasion, Chairman KPT Vice Admiral Shafqat Jawed HI (M) highlighted the existing gap which has created great demand for skilled human resources in the shipping sector of Pakistan and discussed future prospects.

He further elaborated that in due time professionals and skilled human resources will be available for undertaking maritime projects within the country.

“It will be like right man for the right job,” the Chairman KPT added.

He further said that it will pave way for maritime education in the country as well as open avenues for research and innovation to meet the emerging demands of port operations while using maritime expertise and international standards.

The Chairman KPT further laid stress on integrating KPT Staff College to establish further linkages with the international / national institutes of maritime industry. He said that the efforts will benefit the KPT through focused research and tailor made strategies for future expansions and efficient port operations as the Maritime Sector is gradually growing in Pakistan.

The event concluded with exchange of mementos and was well attended by top management officials of KPT and NCMPR.
