Texting with a bent neck can put an additional pressure of around 50 pounds of your head on your spine and can lead to degeneration of neck vertebrae, stated a recent study.

According to an international media report, due to widespread complaints of neck pain due to texting with a bent neck, doctors have also started research on the topic, labeling the problem ‘text neck’.

The weight of the head is the basic culprit behind the extra pressure on the neck.

A teenager named Mathew from Naples was also among many of his age, indulging in endless texting with of course a bent neck.

He didn’t realize the damage until he felt a sharp pain in his neck, upon which he visited a doctor.

The chiropractor examined his neck. Mathews’ x-rays showed severe degeneration of the spine with arthritis.

Now Mathew is in rehab to reverse the impact of the 'Text Neck'.

To prevent ‘Text Neck’ doctors suggest keeping your phone at an eye-level. This helps prevent one’s spine from getting under extra pressure.
