Former Additional Secretary Pervaiz Masood while talking to Geo News, appreciated the development, adding that it would be beneficial for the masses.

He said that it would help in dispelling sense of deprivation among the people of south Punjab.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Shaukat Basra termed it a ‘cosmetic measure’, saying that only a separate province would eliminate the problems of faced by the people of south Punjab.

“What authority would an Additional Chief Secretary possess? We demand two separate provinces, he added.

He further said that these were just election tactics.
