KARACHI: Two people were injured in a firing incident here in the Kuwari Colony area late Tuesday night, police sources said.
The incident took place when the wounded showed resistance during a robbery attempt, security officials noted, adding that locals caught the suspect and beat him before he could be taken into custody.
Of the wounded, one has been shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital while the other has been moved to a private hospital on Stadium Road on the outskirts of Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
Police recovered weapons from the detainee.
On the other hand, two suspects were taken into custody during a search operation carried out in the metropolis' Gulberg area, security officers stated.
Weapons, as well as a stolen motorcycle, were seized from the arrestees, Superintendent of Police (SP)-Gulberg added.
Another search operation was conducted in Orangi Town No. 6 and nearby areas, SP Orangi Abid Ali Baloch mentioned.
Consequent to the raid, a close aide of a Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Karachi leader was detained, Baloch noted, adding that weapons were recovered from the arrestee.
The detained suspect allegedly underwent training in Afghanistan and Waziristan and was reportedly involved in target killing incidents as well as attacks on Rangers and police.
A door-to-door search was carried out as part of the aforementioned operation in Orangi Town, the SP explained, adding that it was commenced over a tip alleging that criminals were present in the area.
