Deepika Padukone has finally broken her silence on the controversies that surround her upcoming movie Padmavati.

In an interview to a leading daily, the Bollywood star said: “As a woman, as an artiste, as someone who has worked and given two years of my life to this movie, I feel hurt, I feel angry, but I also think it is extremely funny that people are reacting like this to a film.”

“I am feeling so many emotions at this point. There is a fraction out there who is doing what it is. But as I said at the start, I have faith in our judicial system.”

“I have full faith in the judicial system of our country. I know no wrong will be done,” she reiterated.

Discussing the film and its posters, Deepika said: “It is my own special moment as an actor. I cannot say much about the moments in the film. But whatever little that we are seeing is for me some of the most memorable moments of my life on a film set. In my opinion, Padmavati, especially in 3D will be an experience worth savouring. It is much more than just a film.”

No dream sequences between Deepika, Ranveer in Padmavati: Bhansali

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film's director, released a video to clarify that no such dream sequence had been shot, but protestors have resorted to vandalism and even threatened physical harm.

“I have made Padmavati with immense honesty, hard work and responsibility,” Bhansali said in a video message. “I have always been inspired by the story of Queen Padmavti and this film is my tribute to her valour, honour and sacrifice.”

Quashing rumours about the dream sequence between Queen Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji in the film, Bhansali had said: “I have already said this earlier, even given in written and repeating through this video that our film shows no such scene that would hurt anyone’s sentiments.”

The director had also assured that Rajput traditions had been kept in mind while filming.

Salman Khan comes out in support of Bhansali's Padmavati

Bollywood megastar Salman Khan is the latest to come out in support of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati, saying that the director will never show anyone in a bad light.

The actor has said that the final decision should be taken by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

"I want to say that you have the Censor Board, they will take a decision. Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) makes very beautiful and excellent films," Salman said during an interview with CNN-News18.

Salman, who has worked with Bhansali in Khamoshi, Hum Dil Chuke Sanam and Saawariya, feels that a decision should not be reached without watching the movie first.

"Heroines look very nice and beautiful. His films never have any vulgarity. Looking at his previous track record, one should know that he will never portray any character in bad light," he added.

The Indian Films and TV Directors Association (IFTDA) along with four other bodies, on Monday, lent support to Bhansali with the #WeSupportPadmavati campaign and sought protection of freedom of expression of artists.

Padmavati has been mired in many controversies; many Rajput groups have alleged that the film has objectionable scenes v Queen Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji.

The film has been making headlines months before its release in December.
