Rare fish found in Gwadar sold for Rs1 million

PISHKAN: A rare fish found near Balochistan’s Gwadar area has been sold for a whopping Rs1 million.

Locally known as the Sowa or Kir was caught two days ago by a fisherman. 

Weighing 41 kilograms, the fish is known for producing medicine in its chest and stomach and only comes to the coast during the current season for breeding.

According to Gwadar Development Authority’s senior official and environment expert, Abdul Rahim, "Last year more than 10 fish of the same breed were caught and sold for more than Rs10 million.”

He added, “The fish is bought from local fishermen and taken to Karachi where it is sold for an even better price.”
