KARACHI: Police on Monday arrested five suspects involved in sectarian killings in Karachi, officials said, who were trained in a neighbouring country.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) East Amir Farooqui said the suspects, whose names were there in the Red Book, were apprehended by Malir police.

He said the Counter-Terrorism Department had rounded up six accomplices of the arrested suspects a couple of weeks ago, who had been in police custody.

The DIG East said the gang has been involved in the killing of 50 individuals and it was provided logistic support from the same neighbouring country.

He further said the arrested suspects have also been named in the list of 'missing persons'.

Farooqui said the suspects were among criminals, who had themselves gone underground to avoid arrest.
