Protests continue globally against Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir

Protests continue across the globe against Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir which have increased after New Delhi revoked the autonomous status of the valley.

A protest against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was held outside the UNESCO headquarters in Paris by the Pakistani, Kashmiri and Sikh communities. The protest continued throughout Modi’s address at the UNESCO headquarters.

Protesters held banners calling for the independence of occupied Kashmir and chanted slogans against India’s move to revoke the autonomous status. They also demanded that the United Nations call on Indian to reverse its decision.

In Birmingham, protests were held outside the Indian consulate with calls for Kashmiris to be provided their due rights. Protests were also held in Ankara and Istanbul outside the Indian consulates.

Occupied Kashmir has been under curfew and lockdown since August 5 after the Indian government abolished Article 370, which granted special status to the valley. The curfew and lockdown have led to protests in the valley with thousands of Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders placed under house arrest or detained.

Pakistan has been raising the issue of occupied Kashmir at the international forum, while UN-based Genocide Watch has issued an alert and urged the United Nations and its members to warn India not to commit genocide in occupied Kashmir.
