SWABI: It appears that Prime Minister Imran Khan has still not forgotten cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed's decision to bat second against India, which resulted in Pakistan losing the crucial match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

The Pakistan team lost to India at the June 16 encounter by 89 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, after skipper Sarfaraz won the toss and chose to field despite Prime Minister Imran Khan's advice to bat first.

During an event here on Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan, who captained the Pakistan cricket side to World Cup glory in 1992, once again criticised Sarfaraz's poor decision.

Speaking about people who viewed the glass half full rather than half empty, the prime minister said: "You win the toss and bat – don't bat second. This is a mindset. You will have this dilemma throughout life."

Ahead of Pakistan’s ICC Cricket World Cup match against India, Prime Minister Imran Khan said Sarfaraz must win the toss and bat first.

Sarfaraz did not listen to the prime minister’s advice and decided to bat first, eventually losing the match to India.

After a slow start to the tournament, Pakistan narrowly missed out on a semi-final spot, finishing fifth in the tournament.
