LONDON: A major fire broke out at the London Hilton hotel on Friday evening, forcing 1,500 people to evacuate the 28-storey building overlooking Hyde Park, the city's fire brigade said.
Police said that no one was injured in the blaze, which the London Fire Brigade said started in the luxury hotel's basement kitchens, before spreading up through ducts to the second floor.
Around 40 firefighters with eight fire engines were trying to get the blaze under control, a fire brigade spokesman added.
