Shoaib Akhtar makes it to YouTube's top 10 new content creators of 2019

Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is among the top 10 fastest growing YouTube content creators of 2019, the video-sharing site revealed in an year-ender video published on Thursday.

Akhtar, the fastest bowler in cricket history, created his YouTube channel on January and uploaded his first video on February 11. Since then he has posted 131 videos, amassed 1.76 million subscribers, who have seen his content more than 117 million times.

 

In a video counting down the top picks of the year posted by YouTube, Akhtar, also known as Rawalpindi Express for his pace, was featured on number 10 in the list of top content creators who had a breakout year in 2019. 

Akhtar is the only Pakistani to have made it to the YouTube Rewind video of 2019 — a year-ending video that lists down the most liked music, dance and other content videos for the year. 

“What was your favorite video of my YouTube channel from 2019?" the former cricketer asked his fans on Twitter following the YouTube's acknowledgment of his content. 

Known for his aggressive bowling on the field and a no-holds barred approach as a cricketing pundit, Akhtar is very popular in the cricket-crazy sub-continent region. The matter-of-fact commentary he uploads touches a chord, evidenced by his growing number of subscribers on YouTube.

Apart from Akhtar, other celebrities featured on the list included singers Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and reality star Kylie Jenner. Some of the most watched music videos and dance content was also listed, as well as some other content creators who have made waves in 2019.
