LG system 2001 restored in entire Sindh
KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has signed into law the Local Bodies (LB) Amendment Ordinance 2001 to restore the nazim-led system in entire Sindh after rolling back the commissioner system in Karachi and Hyderabad a day earlier, Geo News reported.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah Chief on Sunday ordered restoration of Local Government (LG) Ordinance 2001 in the entire province.

According to sources, Dr Ebad inked the ordinance in the presence Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro, Local Government Minister Agha Siraj Durrani and others.

Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said the government wanted to introduce a system that could be acceptable for all.

The Sindh government on Saturday night issued two ordinance to repeal of Sindh Local Government Ordinance for restoring the LG system in Karachi and Hyderabad.

The ordinance was issued for providing congenial atmosphere to promote peace and harmony in the province.

Earlier, Federal Law Minister Imdad Chandio while talking to media said decision to restore LG system in the province was made to stop division of Sindh, adding that masses would see its far reaching impacts.
