KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has assured his counterpart in Gilgit-Baltistan that students from the northern Pakistani region would be tested for coronavirus free of cost like any other citizen after reports surfaced that the provincial government had demanded Rs25 million.

Sindh government spokesperson Senator Murtaza Wahab said Shah had had telephonic contact with GB Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman and clarified the "issue which was based on some misunderstanding".

"It is the policy of #SindhGovt to test people free of cost & the same rule would apply to our friends from Gilgit Baltistan," Wahab said on Twitter.

CM Rehman, in this regard, said CM Shah had assured him that students from the GB region would be tested for free and that they would be sent back home safely as well.

"I'm thankful to Sindh chief minister for his assurance that Gilgit-Baltistan students will be tested free of cost and that he will help send them back," Rehman added.
