DPC to protect Pak ideological boundaries: JI
KARACHI: Amir Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Syed Munawar Hassan on Sunday said Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) had come into being with an aim to protect the ideological boundaries of the country, Geo News reported.

Addressing a rally organized by DPC near Mazar-e-Quaid, the JI Amir said: "We have to take the movement ahead by remaining within the law and Constitution."

He said it was a general perception among the people that general elections if held under President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani would be for the US and that's why 'we want an interim set up formed before the polls'.

Munawar Hassan said the rulers wanted to secure their interests and those of the US through general elections.

He said the government lied about halting the Nato supply line. The US envoy's statement exposed the government's lie, he added.

Hassan called for launching a united struggle towards securing release of Dr. Afia Siddiqui from the US detention.
