ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday embarked on a three-day China visit on the special invitation extended by State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said that FM Qureshi will attend the meeting of Foreign Ministers of Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan today, March 29.

Besides attending the Neighbouring Countries Ministerial meeting, the foreign minister will interact with his counterparts from different countries participating in the moot.

According to a Radio Pakistan report, the foreign minister will also meet Russian and Iranian ministers.

"Pakistan fully supports a regional approach on Afghanistan for promoting durable peace and stability in the region. Pakistan will continue to support the international community’s efforts to advance the shared objectives of a peaceful, stable, sovereign, prosperous and connected Afghanistan," the MOFA said.

It may be recalled that Pakistan was the first to initiate the Neighbouring Countries format in September 2021, to evolve a regional approach on the Afghan crisis, by hosting the first meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Neighbouring Countries on 8 September 2021.
