Thousands of households lost their power due to an outage in Henderson's Clark County, NV Energy confirmed Saturday.
The powerful outage occurred at around 5pm, affecting more than 29,000 consumers, and lasted for over three hours, local media reported.
The outage primarily hit western Henderson and some surrounding areas of unincorporated Clark County.
The power company's outage map "showed that a large number of those impacted were located in the 89014 and 89074 zip codes", EnergyPortal.eu reported.
Energy officials, appearing on Channel 13, said that crews responded to the scene and worked to restore power "safely and quickly."
Finally, at 8:30pm, NV Energy confirmed that power had been restored to the area.
But what had happened?
In a statement, NV Energy said the prolonged power outage was caused by a vehicle that crashed into a transmission riser and disrupted multiple power lines.
EnergyPortal.eu reported that power outages have now become a common occurrence due to a host of reasons, asking people to have emergency supplies available for such circumstances.
