Six killed in blast at Iraq army base
BAGHDAD: A car bomb that exploded at the entrance to an Iraqi army base north of Baghdad killed at least six people on Tuesday, including three soldiers, medics said.

The blast struck at around mid-day (0900 GMT) at the base in Taji, which lies 25 kilometres (15 miles) north of the capital.

The two medical officials said at least six people were killed and 20 others were wounded in the explosion. Three of the fatalities were soldiers, according to security and medical officials. All spoke on condition of anonymity.

Violence is sharply lower nationwide since its peak in 2006 and 2007, but attacks remain common, especially in and around Baghdad.
