Taliban urge NATO to copy French and quit Afghan war

KABUL: NATO forces should follow the French example and withdraw from Afghanistan, a spokesman for the Taliban said Tuesday as France pulled its combat troops off the battlefield.

"This is a good initiative, good for the Afghan nation as well as the French nation," Zabihullah Mujahed told.

"We urge the others to follow France and leave Afghanistan, end the occupation of Afghanistan and leave the fate of the country to Afghans themselves."
