After a hectic pre-election and polling exercises nationwide, the entire nation now awaits collective outcomes of the 2024 general polls with a lot of expectations to see much hoped-for political and economic stability.

The election results are pouring in from all parts of the country despite a delay in the announcement of the preliminary post-poll outcomes amid many complaints against returning officers (ROs) failing to complete the tasks within the prescribed deadline.

Lahore has its own significance in parliamentary politics as several political bigwigs contested Thursday's nationwide polls from the provincial capital of Punjab which would hint at strong standing of one of the major political parties in the largest province of Pakistan.

A tough contest was seen between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed independent candidates.

Moreover, the newly-formed Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), which is being led by former leaders of the Imran-founded party Jahangir Tareen and Abdul Aleem Khan, will also have to prove its mettle after contesting the polls for the first time with a new entity.
