New Zealand bowl in first ODI against South Africa

Centurion: New Zealand won the toss and sent South Africa in to bat in the first one-day international at SuperSport Park on Wednesday.

New Zealand fielded the same team that won the second Twenty20 international at the same venue on Sunday.

South Africa were again without batsman Faf du Plessis because of a knee injury. Du Plessis also missed the Twenty20 internationals in a series which was shared with one win apiece.

It was the first meeting between the two teams since a dramatic World Cup semi-final, which New Zealand won by four wickets with one ball to spare in Auckland in March.

But only four of the New Zealand team and seven of the South Africans from the Auckland encounter lined up for Wednesday´s game. Injuries, retirement and players being given time off accounted for most of the changes.
