Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre just received praise for their song, Outta Da Blue.
A charity, Daylight Studio, thanked the legendary hip-hop artists for sampling one of their tracks in the recently released song, off of their latest album, Missionary.
In a press statement, the organization stated that the use of their track, Watermelon Fantasy was "unexpected” but "gives a huge amount of validation to the unique creativity we believe the disabled community possesses but is often unable to express.”
Originally released back in 2018 by Daylight Studio, Watermelon Fantasy was made by differently abled individuals at the studio, a venue that was developed for the purpose of allowing them access to music as a creative outlet, as a therapy tool and a means of expression.
In their Instagram post as well, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre were praised by the studio, as they wrote in their caption, "This unexpected collaboration is a dream come true for our small, charity-based studio.”
Daylight Studio continued, "It gives a huge amount of validation to the unique creativity we believe the disabled community possesses but is often gone unheard."
Previously, one of the musicians of Watermelon Fantasy, Tina Bruins, spoke of the song being sampled in Outta Da Blue and told the Guardian, “I was shocked. I remember being like: ‘Whaaaaaat?’ I didn’t know it was going to be released by Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg. I thought no, I thought it was a fantasy... It was a good shock because it sort of proves I make good music.”
