The Emmy-winning actress, Jean Smart, recently urged a change to the way award shows are handled in light of the ongoing wildfires devastating Los Angeles.
The 73-year-old star of Hacks took to her Instagram on Wednesday, January 8, and made a request regarding the ongoing blaze in California.
Smart asked that award shows not be televised, with the money instead being donated to people hurt by the fires in the L.A. area as the wildfires are growing quickly and affecting places like Pacific Palisades and Hollywood Hills.
The Frasier actress scribbled, "ATTENTION! With ALL due respect, during Hollywood's season of celebration, I hope any of the networks televising the upcoming awards will seriously consider NOT televising them and donating the revenue they would have garnered to the victims of the fires and the firefighters.”
However, Hollywood has already reacted to the fires by moving the Critics Choice Awards from January 12 to 26.
The announcement for the Academy Award nominations has also been moved from January 17 to 19.
Moreover, earlier this week, the SAG Awards called off their live, in-person nominations announcement and L.A. film premieres for movies such as The Last Showgirl and Unstoppable and were cancelled for safety reasons as well.
It is noteworthy to mention that Leighton Meester, Eugene Levy, Adam Brody, Heidi Montag, Paris Hilton, Spencer Pratt, and Anna Faris have lost their homes in the wildfires.
