Mike Love recently opened up about a profound personal experience.
As per the latest findings of Bang Premiere, Mike admitted that he can still feel the presence of his cousin, Brian Wilson.
This heartfelt admission came as the musician was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on Thursday, a poignant moment occurring just one day after Brian's passing was announced.
"To be honest, I do feel his presence," the 83-year-old artist shared as he accepted the prestigious honor.
He continued, "I especially must thank my cousin Brian Wilson. My first cousin by blood but brother in music — together we set the stage for some of the most successful music collaborations of all time."
For those unversed, Brian was the principal songwriter and co-lead vocalist of the band, Beach Boys.
He left behind a legacy that, as Mike hinted, has made their music "universal and timeless."
His tragic death was announced by Brian's children in a statement on his official Instagram account.
"We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now," they wrote.
"Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world. Love and Mercy."
The family also revealed that the musician had been battling a neurocognitive disorder similar to dementia.
Reflecting on their shared musical journey, Mike took also took a trip down memory lane and reflected on his work with Brian.
"I remember thinking how significant our collaborations were," he recalled and noted, "And the world does love their music. Think 'Good Vibrations.' Think 'California Girls' and 'Surf's Up.' Look at the success of their albums and enduring popularity."
"Their music is universal and timeless," he concluded, a testament to the lasting impact of Brian Wilson's artistry.
