Jennie from the K-pop group Blackpink, is currently in the process of creating her first solo album.

The members of the group have been working on their respective solo careers over the past year.

Jennie made waves by making her acting debut in the HBO series, The Idol, as well as starting a talent agency of her own.

The singer recently worked with Billboard for their January issue, where she opened up about her work and temperament.

Discussing the difficulties of having to form a new creative circle, she explained, “I struggled a lot in the beginning. A few months, I would say, was just me throwing myself out there, walking into rooms filled with new people. I just had to keep knocking on the door, like, ‘Is this it?’ ‘Is this it?’ and then eventually, we got to a point where I found a good group of people that I linked with, sonically and as friends.”

She added that while working with Blackpink meant that she had to come to a compromise with others, her new project meant coming to terms with her own demands.

“It’s a fight between me, myself, and I — I’m not easy to convince. It’s not easy working with me. […] I needed this. I wanted this. The more I get to know myself, the more I try to love myself. I’ve had a time in my life where I didn’t — I had no clue how to do that,” she stated.

Continuing, “I didn’t know who I was. I didn’t know what I was living for. The time where I was feeling clueless. The fact that I’ve moved on from that phase and being so committed to myself, I’m very proud.”

Similar introspective thoughts can be found in Jennie’s upcoming album, which her fans continue to eagerly await.
