Brooke Shields has a growing interest in dark comedy.

The supermodel and actress, 59, took centre stage at an NYC event An Evening with Brooke Shields on January 13, presented by the Flow Space.

"I’m obsessed with Hacks. I love that type of dark humour," Shields began, also citing Ally McBeal as another favourite in the genre.

The two-time Golden Globe nominee also spoke at length about what intrigues her about the genre before expressing her hope for similar projects.

"That type of dark humour is just so funny. It’s wrong in all the best ways — you have to lean into it and laugh," she continued, per People Magazine. "I grew up with that kind of humour."

Shields continued, "What I love about comedy is that when it’s done right, it makes the drama even more poignant. You’re not expecting those emotional moments, so they hit you harder. I find those nuances fascinating."

Shields, who has played leading roles in Mother of the Bride, Wendy Healy and Suddenly Susan, said she's hoping for another titular role again.

"Honestly, I’m just ready for my own show again. I’m ready for that," she told the audience, asking, "Are you ready for it?"

The Jane the Virgin actor is also open to doing more theatre. "I’d love to do more Broadway," she added.

However, Shields noted that another thing she would do differently this year is embrace a slower pace and let go of her earlier "hustle" mindset.

"I realised that all this striving I’d done for so many years—pushing and performing—had served me, but it doesn’t serve me anymore," she explained. "I’m learning that it’s okay to take my time and not be in constant hustle mode."
