In Rio de Janeiro, Lady Gaga performed in front of over 2 million fans on Copacabana Beach. But there was a plan to bomb the concert.
Brazilian police on Sunday revealed they had foiled the plan of a group who planned to use improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails at the event.
According to Reuters, the group promotes hate speech and extremism in teenagers, including self-harm.
Raids were carried out in several states, leading to the arrest of two persons. One of them was the alleged mastermind of the plot uncovered by the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro state and the Justice Ministry.
"The suspects were recruiting participants, including minors, to carry out coordinated attacks using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails," the police said in a press release.
"The plan was treated as a 'collective challenge' with the aim of gaining notoriety on social media," the authorities noted.
Despite the threat, the Judas hitmaker carried the show without much difficulty.
The concert was full because it was free and part of Rio's attempt to promote tourism and, in return, boost the city's economy.
"Tonight, we're making history.. Thank you for making history with me," the 39-year-old said.
She belted several of her classic hits, including Poker Face and Alejandro. Her changing of outfits, including a costume with the colours of the Brazilian flag, also caught fans' attention.
